Earlier fixes: * Better handling of internal processing for documents in complicated formats * PDF and PostScript input files are now supported, and are licensed as add-on features. * Unicode output is now available, in addition to ASCII text. The output format may be specified on the command-line or in an environment variable. * 56 different languages are now supported. Multiple languages from the same code page may be specified at once to recognize multi-lingual documents. Language usage is controlled by the license key. Languages may be specified on the command-line or in an environment variable. Languages that are not supported by ASCII text will require the use of Unicode output. * The TIFF fillorder bit is now ignored by default. If the TIFF fillorder bit should be obeyed, set the environment variable VV_IGNORE_FILLORDER to "no" or "n" or "0". * Input filenames that contain spaces are now supported. * The installer now supports the environment variable VV_HOME, allowing users to install the software in a non-default directory. * More license manager tools are distributed with OCR Shop XTR Lite now, including vvlmstatus to check the license manager status and xtrapiKeyRead to decode the license key string. * Messages and error handling have been improved in a number of cicumstances, including these cases: - Default message to stdout reports language settings - Input images with unsupported resolutions - Licensing messages and errors - Installation log and error messages - User lacks read or write permissions for the input or output files - Missing language files - Unsupported input file format - Use of a PDF/PS input file without a license that supports it - No license installed - Output format does not support the selected language - The output format does not support the selected language. - Text file is passed as input instead of an image file. - Floating point errors * The documentation directory has been moved from "doc" to "docs" to match other Vividata software. * When xtrclilite exits on a signal, a negative value is returned to indicate that xtrclilite did not succeed. =============================================================================== Hidden Options * Verbose debug messages may be printed to the console by setting the environment variable VV_DEBUG to 1000. This information is useful when reporting problems or bugs to Vividata. * A small number of TIFF files are created with the "fillorder" bit set correctly. If your input file needs xtrclilite to obey the TIFF fillorder bit, then set the environment variable VV_IGNORE_FILLORDER to "no". =============================================================================== Known Issues * During installation, if VV_HOME was set to a relative directory rather than the full, absolute path, the installer will fail. * If a license has expired, it may no longer appear in the vvlmstatus output. =============================================================================== ===============================================================================
